Xieng Mieng Project Info
Mission
The mission of the Xieng Mieng Project is to tansform the beloved character known throughout Laos and some parts of Southeast Asia into something that will entertain, educate, and preserve the Laotian culture.
Children's Book
The first part of the project is the children's book. You can look at the synopsis for each story in the stories section. I will be writing the books in rhymes with some loose translation of the original fables. I want the books to have some similarities to that of Dr. Seuss' books. We will have the books for sale on this site when it becomes available.
Learning DVD
The second part of the project is the learning DVD. The learning DVD will be an interactive DVD-ROM with animations, songs, Lao alphabets and games. We will be bringing one of the stories to life in an animated short. You can look at some of the animation tests that we have done so far in the movies section. This DVD will also be on sale here once it is completed.
Contributions are Welcomed
This project is a huge undertaking for one person to accomplish. I do appreciate all the monetary help I can get. I promise I will use the money for this project only. I will be putting up a page for this purpose. I will show what the expenses are and how much money is needed. Contributors will receive copies of the materials we publish and create. Thank you to the Lao Heritage Foundation for their generous contribution.
